Why 12th And Oak
The Standard Other Contractors Skip
Most contractors own basic equipment, hold no certifications, and back their work with a one-year warranty. Here is what separates 24 years of real craft from a volume operation.
Bona Certified Craftsman
Fewer than a fraction of Triangle flooring contractors hold this certification. It requires hundreds of hours of training, testing, and hands-on practice with the best finish systems available.
Bona PowerDrive Planetary Sander
Owned by fewer than 2% of contractors nationwide. Delivers the flattest possible surface while removing less material per pass than a drum sander, preserving more of your floor every time.
Five-Year Warranty
The industry standard is one year. Ours is five. That difference reflects the confidence we have in the materials, the methods, and the standards we hold on every project.
Water Popping on Every Stained Floor
We apply water to the sanded surface before staining on every floor that receives stain. It opens the wood grain for deeper, more even color absorption. Most contractors skip it because it adds time.
Dual Moisture Testing
Tramex MEX5 pinless meter and Delmhorst Total Check pin meter on every subfloor. Both instruments, every installation. Moisture caught before the first board prevents failures after the last coat.
NWFA Member Since 2002
Member of the National Wood Flooring Association since founding. NWFA membership requires adherence to installation and finishing standards that most contractors have never read.
Our Story
Rooted in Clayton, Built on Trust
12th And Oak Floor Co. was founded in 2002 by Izral Daniels, a Bona Certified Craftsman and NWFA Member based right here in Clayton, NC. Over 24 years, Izral has installed nearly two million square feet of hardwood floors across Johnston County, Wake County, Durham County, and communities throughout the Triangle.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Hardwood floor installation in Clayton and the Triangle typically ranges from $15 to $25 per square foot installed, including labor and materials. The range varies based on wood species, finish system, and subfloor conditions. We provide free, no-obligation estimates for every project. Call (984) 400-4OAK or fill out the contact form.
Most refinishing projects take 4 to 5 days: two days to sand, half a day to stain (if applicable), and two days for finish coats to cure. We use the Bona PowerDrive planetary sander with HEPA dust containment for a virtually dustless process.
Refinishing means sanding the floor down to bare wood, then applying stain and fresh finish coats. It is ideal for floors with deep scratches, water damage, or stain changes. Recoating (screen-and-recoat) is for floors where the finish is dull but the wood is structurally sound. We lightly abrade the surface and apply a new topcoat. Recoating is faster and less expensive.
Yes. Izral Daniels handles every consultation personally, is involved in color decisions and key quality milestones on each project, and performs the final inspection before considering a project complete. Gerardo, our Lead Supervisor since 2008, runs the job site daily. You get consistent, experienced people on your floor from start to finish.
We serve Johnston County (Clayton, Garner, Smithfield, Selma, Four Oaks), Wake County (Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs, Wake Forest), and Durham County (Durham, Chapel Hill, Carrboro). Call to confirm your specific location.
Yes. All work carries a 5-year warranty. We also perform moisture testing on every installation job before the first board goes down. Moisture problems caught early prevent floor failures later.
We can get very close. Stain matching is something we take seriously. We test and blend on-site before applying anything to the full floor. That said, wood species, age, grain variation, sun exposure, and prior finish layers all affect how a stain absorbs and reads visually. An exact match is not always possible, but a skilled match from an experienced eye usually gets you there. We will show you the test result and get your approval before we proceed.
Standard metal floor vents break up the visual continuity of a hardwood floor. Our custom CNC flush-mount vents are manufactured from your actual flooring material in Clayton, NC, so they blend seamlessly into the floor. We're the only contractor in the Triangle offering this service.
